Dustin Hall – Pastor
33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 4Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:33-34 (NIV)
22Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)
I recently heard a friend of mine connect these two passages in a way that I had never considered before. I wish I was wise/smart enough to have recognized the relationship between these verses, but I didn’t . . . so I’ll just admit up front that this idea has been “pastorally borrowed” from someone else. I hope and pray it’s an encouragement to your heart as it has been to mine.
God, in His kindness and mercy, has faithfully promised to provide new mercies and compassions for every day. Each morning they are fresh and sufficient for the situations and struggles we’ll encounter that day. However, many of us (myself included!) often feel burdened and sense that the struggles of our lives are beginning to overwhelm us. It could be finances. It might be health related. Maybe it’s relational strife. Whatever it might be -our hurts and hardships are real and we can easily become weighed down.
Maybe our problem is that we’re trying to use God’s mercy and compassion that has been allotted for today on tomorrow’s problems. We consistently worry and fret over what hasn’t even happened yet. What will tomorrow bring? What if this happens? How will I deal with that person?
Basically we’re overdrawing the account that God has given us. He promises new mercies for today . . . not for tomorrow. When tomorrow gets here, then it will be today and He’ll provide what we need for that situation.
There’s a reason why God tells us not to worry about tomorrow. When we do that, were taking our eyes off of what He’s doing in and around us right now. It’s hard to keep our eyes fixed on Christ and His Kingdom (remember . . . seek ye first the Kingdom) when we’re always glancing down the road and loosing sleep over what’s going to happen next week.
Maybe we would be better off to take God at His word and truly trust Him (what a novel idea!). He will give us what we need, when we need it. Do we believe this? Do we have faith that He knows the beginning from the end and that what’s coming our way tomorrow isn’t a surprise to Him? Are we willing to trust that He knows best and He can handle it? Or will we continue to carry burdens we’re not intended (or equipped) to shoulder? The choice is ours.
I want to keep learning how to rest in the Lord, living each day under the new mercies He has granted, and keeping my eyes on Him instead of my problems. How about you?

Please make sure and be here on the weekend of August 14th and 15th. We’ll be celebrating the 60th anniversary of KBC. Here’s a brief run down of what will take place on that important weekend:
Saturday, August 14th
We’ll meet in the church gym @ 9:00am for a family breakfast. We’ll head out in teams at around 10:00am to perform ministry/service projects in our neighborhood. The Father has blessed us and we want to be a blessing to those around us. This should be a great time together!
Sunday, August 15th
We’ll have ONLY ONE SERVICE @ 11:00am. It will be a time of worship, celebration, thanksgiving, reflection, and anticipation. We’re excited about what God has done, what the Spirit is accomplishing in our lives and hearts today, and what the future might hold as His Kingdom continues to take root in this place. After the 11:00am service we’ll ALL meet together in the gym for a good old-fashioned potluck lunch. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO INVITE A GUEST!
It’s such a blessing to be allowed to serve in this place. Thank you for being a people who love Jesus, desire His Kingdom, and embody your faith on a daily basis! I am so blessed and humbled to be called to shepherd here at KBC. May God continue to guide our steps and direct our paths as we faithfully seek His face with obedience and joy.
blessings,
Dustin

Summer Camps
It has been another fantastic and exciting year at CampTouchet. KBC’ers attend Girls, Boys, and Youth Camps . . . and had a blast! Many decisions were made for Christ and His Kingdom, so please be in prayer for these young hearts as they seek to follow Christ and submit to His lordship as they grow. We have a divine responsibility to pray for, encourage, challenge, and disciple the youth and children God has entrusted to our care here at KBC. Are you being faithful to this calling?

Deacon Ministry
Back in June the KBC body made nominations for new deacons. The current deacons have met and are following up with individuals who were nominated. There were many qualified and capable men recommended during this process. Please continue to pray for the deacons as they work through the important process of selecting who to recommend to the church for service.
