Jesus told us to be light in a dark place (Matthew 5:16) . . . that's the foundational principle behind SHINE. We want our community to see the love of Christ through our actions, and not just our words!! SHINE is a collection of ministries that we as a church sponsor, participate in, and support in our community and around the world! Different KBC members/groups serve as contacts for these unique and exciting areas of ministry. If you're interested in ministering in one (or more!) of these areas, please contact the KBC office.
UPWARD Basketball
UPWARD Basketball is a Christ-centered children's basketball league that is based on Biblical principles and encourages each player to understand that "Every Child Is A Winner!". Weekly practices include team devotions and each game is focused on player integrity, personal improvement, teamwork, and respect. The league begins in January each year and is finished in late March.
KBC Food Ministry The KBC Food Closet is open to the community. We believe that one of the best ways we can demonstrate the love of Christ to those around us is to meet the needs they currently have in their lives. Jesus said that when we feed the hungry . . . we're actually feeding Him (Matthew 25:37-40)!!
Agape Literacy Center
The Agape Literacy Center is a ministry that seeks to reach and minister to the numerous international citizens and refugees that God has brought into our area. Indeed, the world is at our doorstep! Through English and citizenship classes, relationships are built and the love of Christ is demonstrated to those who may have never heard the truth of Christ and His gospel.
Tri-Cities Pregnancy Network
The Tri-Cities Pregnancy Network is a local, Christ-centered pregnancy ministry. Their trained volunteers offer unconditional love and truthful counsel, always respecting the privacy of each individual. They offer both practical assistance and emotional support to help their clients constructively plan for their future. God has called us to speak up for the innocent and those who cannot defend themselves (Proverbs 31:8-9). Through offerings, the annual Walk-for-Life, and members serving at the center, we seek to support this valuable ministry and follow after God's heart for the innocent and needy.
"Operation Christmas Child" Shoebox Ministry
This exciting ministy is directed by Samaritans Purse, a global Christian humanitarian organization. Through these shoeboxes (packed with toys, candy, clothing, and school supplies) we have the opportunity to tangibly demonstrate the love of Christ to needy children around the world. God's Word tells us that the essence of our "lived-out" faith is ministering to the needy . . . orphans and widows (James 1:27). This ministry allows individuals, families, Bible study groups, and the church as a whole to reach out with the gospel and love of Christ.
Thanksgiving & Christmas Baskets
As a church we put together Thanksgiving meals for members of the community who are in need of assistance. Members of KBC refer individuals and families who can benefit from this ministry, and this allows us to meet their physical needs as well as continue ministering to them on a spiritual level through their relationship with a member of the KBC community.
Local School Partnerships
We are currently seeking to partner with a local elementary school and looking for ways to minister in that context. This relationship has just begun and we are still asking the Lord to direct our path as we dialogue with the school administration. We look forward to seeing what God will do through this new ministry!
"PieceMakers" Quilting Ministry
This group meets at the church on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month @ 9:30am to make quilts for refugees, the homeless, soldiers, the VA Hospital, the CBBA Women's Missionary Union, and other needy individuals. Come join them as they use their passion for quilting to honor the Lord and serve His people!
Habitat for Humanity We are currently in the process of beginning a relationship with the local branch of this charitable organization in hopes of partnering with them to provide housing for needy families in the Tri-City community.
